As I write this update the England football team are three hours away from their crucial fixture against Slovenia. With two massively poor performances under their belts surely, with the pressure of a vital victory, the 'lads' will perform. Lets hope they perform and progress.
In addition to the World Cup starting, events this summer keep coming. Ever the optimist, with the 20/20 World Cup in the bank; the English Rugby team drawing the series in Australia; Paul McKinley winning the US Open; the English cricket team beating the Aussies last night to go one up in the series; Murray through to the second round of Wimbledon and England progressing to the knock out stages of the World Cup, it could be a golden summer for British sport.
By Friday 16th July, when we hold the Cup and Plate competition semi finals and finals at Timperley Cricket Club, many of the above events will have been concluded.
The ‘Road to Timperley’ this year is proving even more competitive than last year with a real buzz about the tournament. Pinsent Masons seem to be the real surprise this year, having won the Cup competition last year, struggling to find any form. In addition, to date, the Co-op are the only unbeaten side in the whole competition and will probably offer a very stiff test to any side playing them.
Unlike last year, the weather has been generally very good which makes the competition so much easier from our end.
As ever, good luck for the rest of the season, like anything in life, the England football team will hopefully have some luck in beating Slovenia today and putting the inevitable media backlash on hold.
