Summer Excitement

Amidst these dark and frosty mornings and this freezing weather, I'm already looking past the snow and ice towards the forthcoming summer! Many people have kindly reminded me that we are in still in the Winter, but I am still happy to make plans and prepare for the arrival of the sun.

Summer is my favourite season, filled with holidays, long hazy days, picnics in the park, and BBQ parties! The reason for my perhaps premature excitement is down the release of the season's music festival tickets. Music festivals are another great summer-time pursuit and one of my favourite things to do. Last year, I experienced my second year at Glastonbury but with the fallow-year taking place in 2012 in line with the site's recovery and the Olympics; there is a gap in my calendar.

There are plenty of alternatives throughout the UK and the rest of Europe. For guaranteed sunshine (and the option to spend the day at the beach as opposed to knee deep in mud) many opt for the overseas option of a European festival. The website global grasshopper gives a nice overview of the top ten Euro-festivals, with a short description and some alluring sunny photos! http://www.globalgrasshopper.com/destinations/europe/top-10-european-music-festivals-2011/

Back on British soil, there are also plenty to choose from across the country that vary in size and cater for all music tastes. If you have never ventured to a music festival, I would strongly recommend that you get together a group of friends and get planning! Not only will you get the chance to watch some of your favourite bands, you'll be likely to tune into some new musical talent and you'll be guaranteed to have an unforgettable and amazing weekend!
