The time is fast approaching when I will have been at Sellick Partnership for one year. I am shocked at how quickly the time has passed, but I have to say that I am glad I am over the initial milestone of settling into a new job and a new company.
I joined Sellick Partnership as the Resourcer for the Legal Team and am now pleased that I am progressing into a Junior Consultant role starting in September. Having settled into my position, I am now preparing myself for the change. It's no surprise to any of my colleagues that I initially felt incredibly worried - I didn't know whether I was ready, or if I would be any good at it - or what my team would think?
Whilst I am surrounded by consultants doing this every day, I am apprehensive about finding my feet and gaining some confidence speaking with clients. I am not all nerves though! I am also very excited about what the next couple of months have in store for me, and in particular I'm really excited about a new challenge and getting to grips with a new skill set. Having focussed on the candidate side it will be nice when I can hopefully call some of them my locums!
I'm sure it is common to have some reservations about moving into a new role, now having had the time to get used to the idea I cannot wait to immerse myself and have my own small patch of the country to focus on recruiting for.
I'm sure that for our candidates, who regularly move from one locum assignment to the other, they must be used to the nerves that accompany moving into a new position!
If you'd like any advice on locuming, please connect with me on LinkedIn or call me on 0161 834 1642.
