Charitable Giving and Fundraising
Since our establishment in 2002, Sellick Partnership has actively supported the communities within which our business operates through charitable giving and voluntary work. Across the UK we work with a number of regional and national charities including St Ann’s Hospice, The Lord’s Taverners, Simon Community, Douglas Macmillan Hospice and Macmillan Cancer Support.
Over the years we have worked closely with St Ann’s Hospice, a charity that seeks to improve the lives of people living with life threatening illnesses in Greater Manchester. Last year we raised a substantial amount for this fantastic cause through sporting events and ad-hoc fundraising opportunities. This year, two of our employees will be competing in the Great Manchester Run in order to raise money for the Hospice.

Additionally, this year will see the launch of the Sellick Partnership Manchester Professionals’ Cricket League in aid of St.Ann’s Hospice and the Lord’s Taverners cricket charity – with 25 professional firms participating.
To mark the end of the tournament we will be holding our End of Season Awards Dinner at the Lowry Hotel including guest speaker, Jonathan Agnew. Half of all the proceeds raised will be donated to St. Ann’s Hospice – the other half will go to The Lord’s Taverners cricket charity.

Jo Sellick, Managing Director, has forged a positive relationship with the Lord’s Taverners Cricket Charity, an organisation that enables children with special needs to participate in the sport. As a major fan of cricket, Jo recognises the importance of their work. We have various fundraising initiatives taking place in order to raise money for this organisation, including the Sellick Partnership Manchester Professionals’ Cricket League 2010.

Douglas Macmillan Hospice
Over the last year Sellick Partnership Midlands, has built a close relationship with the Douglas Macmillan Hospice, an organisation that provides palliative care for adults suffering with terminal illnesses in North Staffordshire. Gill Turnock, Group Director has recently become a committee member, working closely with them on projects – later this year she will be competing in the 50-mile Douglas Macmillan bike ride, in order to raise a substantial amount for the charity as well using business contacts to sell tickets for the Douglas Macmillan Hospice Grand Ball. Gill’s team in the Midlands have also carried out voluntary work to support the hospice.

Sellick Partnership is pleased to announce that Macmillan Cancer Support is now our corporate charity. This remarkable organisation provides emotional care and financial support to people affected by cancer and their families, through specialist medical care and advice, emotional support groups and influencing policies and legislation for change. This year, nine of our employees are participating in the Great North Run and over thirty of our employees and clients recently participated in the Chester Half Marathon. We are also working with Macmillan on a number of ad-hoc projects, to support their initiatives.
Payroll Giving
Sellick Partnership also runs a ‘Payroll Giving’ scheme that provides a tax efficient way for employees to make a donation to a charity of their choice, on a monthly basis.
There are a number of benefits to the scheme, including all of the donations are deducted from an employee’s gross pay – as a result, the full donation goes to the chosen charity before the calculation of tax. Additionally employees are able to donate as little or as much as they like, making it an accessible scheme for all.
Providing Educational Support to the Community
Sellick Partnership recognises the importance of using our business knowledge and expertise to provide support and education to those within our local communities.
Sellick Partnership is involved in the local IOD shadowing scheme and employability skills training. This scheme provides a valuable source of vocational learning for students within the community, where students are given the opportunity to shadow business directors.
Supporting Sports and Recreation
Sellick Partnership provides support to a number of sports teams, including Bowden Rugby Club and Bradford Ladies’ Hockey Club. Our support has enabled the teams to become more established in their sports - allowing young talent to be nurtured through effective training.
