Simon Community Jail Break puts Sellick Partnership’s Sara McKinty behind bars

19/02/2009

Sara McKinty, Managing Director of Sellick Partnership Northern Ireland, has joined forces with Simon Community Northern Ireland to participate in the first ever charity ‘Jail Break,’ taking place at Crumlin Road Gaol, Belfast on 27th February 2009.

The Simon Community will be transporting Sara to the site in a prison wagon, courtesy of PSNI, where she will be allocated to a cell and imprisoned for a total of three hours.

It is hoped that Sara will raise £3,000 through using her mobile phone from the cell to raise ‘bail’ from contacts. All money raised will be used to tackle homelessness in Northern Ireland and support the Simon Community’s range of initiatives, which focus on the issues that may lead to individuals becoming destitute.

Sara McKinty has commented: “I am delighted to be taking part in the charity Jail Break that will support the development of other Simon Community initiatives to help ensure the cycle of homelessness is broken.”

Simon Community Northern Ireland, Fundraising Manager, Bill Manwaring has commented, “I am very grateful to everyone who is volunteering their time and effort to support the Simon Community’s Jail Break, in what is likely to be an extremely challenging year. In 2008 alone 3,164 individuals and 124 families approached Simon Community in need of emergency accommodation.”

Sara needs your support to make her stay a little shorter! If you would like to make a secure online donation, please go to
