Sellick Partnership and Baker Tilly’s IFRS workshop proves to be a success

19/10/2009

Sellick Partnership’s Manchester Finance Division have recently hosted their second IFRS seminar of the year, in conjunction with Top Ten accountancy firm Baker Tilly.

As public bodies will have to adopt IFRS from 2010, the session discussed the key differences between UK Gaap and IFRS, and the practical issues that maybe encountered during the transition process.

Thirty-seven senior delegates from public sector organisations attended from across the UK. Peter Thatcher, specialist in writing and presenting technical updates to senior finance professionals, gave an informative presentation into the new implications of IFRS standards. One delegate commented: “Peter Thatcher is one of a rare few who can explain IFRS in a way we understand.”

Following on from the event, Ray Wareing, Group Director has commented, “As a business we recognise the importance of adding value to the service we provide to our clients, ensuring that they are well-informed about the latest changes taking place in the finance sector.

“The seminar provided an effective platform for those whom attended to become up to date with the changing standards and how they will impact upon their working practises – the feedback we have received from delegates has been extremely positive.”
