Over two hundred business professionals joined together at The Lowry Hotel on Thursday, 15th October, to celebrate in style the achievements of Sellick Partnership’s Manchester Professionals’ Cricket League 2009, raising over £5000 for local charities St.Ann’s Hospice and The Lord’s Taverners.
Seventy-four fixtures took place across twelve local cricket clubs over the summer months, facilitating numerous networking opportunities for the city’s professionals.
Those whom attended dug deep in order to raise money for the two charities, with informal fundraising initiatives taking place throughout the evening. Guest speaker, at the event, Jonathan Agnew, BBC Cricket correspondent, was well received by the professionals, as he provided humorous insights into his experience of working with fellow commentator, Geoffrey Boycott, and life as a fast-pace bowler for the England team.
Jo Sellick, Managing Director has commented: “This is the first year we have organised the League and I have been delighted with its success. The End of Season Awards Dinner brought the season to a truly memorable end - providing a platform to recognise the achievements of those whom have participated, bring together businesses from across the city and raise a substantial amount of money for two key local charities. All extremely positive outcomes in what has been a difficult year for the business community.”
