Childcare Lawyers still in high demand

Sellick Partnership Legal continues to experience high demand for locum lawyers within the field of child protection in order to support Local Authorities in their improvement of child protection.Recent research by children’s charity Action For Children suggests that worryingly, there has been an 11% reported increase in suspected cases of child neglect over the last year – resulting in the Government undertaking new initiatives to bring about change. With the number of reported cases on the increase - Local Authorities’ legal divisions are continuing to see their childcare caseloads increase.
Lucy Tootell, Senior Consultant, comments: “We are still finding that clients within Local Authorities require skilled childcare lawyers on a locum basis for the short and long term, in order to deal with a sharp increase in care proceedings. Authorities are recognising the importance of their legal teams and making the investment to bring in the best candidates in order to improve child protection.”
