Before attending an interview, it is a good idea to prepare your response to the following questions to help in alleviating any nerves in the run up to the interview.

What are your key strengths and weaknesses?

Always use examples to back up your answers, and turn any weaknesses into strengths.

Why do you want to work for this company?

Example answer:

The role can engage and develop my current skills and I can work on interesting projects that I have not previously been able to work on in previous roles. The hands-on approach adopted in this company will mean that I can learn from senior professionals and work with them to add value to the business, as well as ask questions when necessary.

Why do you want to leave your current job?

Avoid stating personal reasons, such as "I didn’t fit in with the company environment.". Instead consider using a reason like looking for a more challenging role, location, career advancement and job security.

Where do you see your career developing to over the next 5-10 years?

Example answers:

- In the next five years I would like to be established in a company where I can add value and be challenged

- I would like to be working in a company that nurtures my career and pushes me to achieve and better myself as a professional

What are the most significant achievements in your career to date?

Identify the skills used and the benefit to the organisation following these achievements - quantifying where possible.

How do you handle conflict?

Provide an example highlighting the parties involved, and how you listened to other viewpoints to seek a compromise and a positive outcome.

What is the most significant challenge that you have had to overcome in your career to date?

How would your colleagues describe you in three words?

Be honest and concise in your answer.

How do you perform when put under pressure from management?

Your answer should be specific to your role.
