Last Thursday my colleague Kiran Purewal and I, along with Sellick Partnership’s Director Hannah Cottam, exhibited at the bi-annual Northern Branch Conference hosted by the LLG North East Branch. The conference was hosted at the Gateshead International Athletics Stadium and having exhibited at this event in 2014, it was a great opportunity for us to attend such a successful conference.

The event was well attended by delegates from across local authorities in the North East, with the North East branch of Lawyers in Local Government covering the local authorities in Tyne & Wear, Northumberland, Durham and Teeside. The LLG North East Branch are a very active branch, holding excellent training opportunities for its members and this seemed to be no exception. We heard positive feedback from all the delegates that we spoke to regarding the sessions which varied in topic including procurement, child protection, licensing and many more.

Hannah Cottam, Legal Director at Sellick Partnership, presented the first plenary session on ‘How to deal with stress in the workplace and the importance of having a healthy work/life balance’, which was really well received by delegates at all levels. It was really interesting to hear feedback throughout the day, and discuss individual experiences. It definitely seemed to get everyone thinking, especially about being too attached to smart phones!

We would like to thank everyone who visited our stand. We had an extremely enjoyable day meeting all the delegates and discussing the market, current challenges and the support we could potentially offer. Our retro sweets proved extremely popular and we were pleased to announce at the end of the day the winners of our competition, who were able to claim a £50 and £25 voucher of their choice.

We are already looking forward to the next conference in 2020!

In the meantime, please don’t hesitate to get in touch if we are able to assist you with any locum staffing requirements, or if you are seeking a locum position.
