Being the best

Like many people, when I graduated from University I did not entirely know what direction my career would take. I knew that I wanted to work in a service focused business environment, I knew that I wanted to have a successful team of people to manage at some point and I that I wanted to work for a company where employee satisfaction is at the forefront. 

At the time of starting my career in recruitment, the industry itself was on the fringes of being classed as a disreputable/dishonest sector. I would suggest that one of the main reasons for this is that recruiters were stacked on their ‘recruiter conveyor belts’ and worked into a burn out stage. What this equates to is an unhappy work environment, which in turn leads to a high staff turnover that offers no continuity of service for the end user and therefore a tarnished reputation. 

Thankfully, I did my research and chose Sellick Partnership; the bespoke recruitment company that could. Since joining in 2009 I can honestly say I have never looked back. The business has grown considerably since I started to where it is now with seven regional offices throughout the country and having personally started out a graduate consultant, I have also enjoyed progression to where I am now as manager for the Midlands Public Sector unit. 

Why have I stayed at one recruitment agency for so long? In his autobiography Richard Branson cites employers as the heart of Virgin’s success and that his primary focus is getting it right and supporting in house before rolling out to the customer. A happy workforce that is aligned with its company ethos and values is going to go a long way in ensuring success. 

Sellick Partnership has recently been placed as one of the Best Workplaces ™ by Great Place to Work UK  a place in the top 100 places to work in Britain for 2017 and not for the first time have we been in the top 100. With our focus on ‘shining a light on our people’ it’s not hard to see why. Our staff turnover is low because our staff are invested in and our career paths clear and tangible to those that want it. Our commitment to CSR is also something that is encouraged and celebrated as much as talent. Our people are constantly recognised be it with awards, internal communications or investing in excellent team building, corporate and team events.  This really is an exciting place to be at the moment and I regularly give myself a big pat on the back for making the right decision nine years ago to join Sellick Partnership.
