Healthy body, healthy mind - part 2

I initially wrote a blog in 2013 discussing the importance of maintaining a healthy body and how this can impact productivity. At the time, I had just completed my first half marathon and mentioned that I planned to run my second in October 2014 and was hoping to complete this marathon in just under two hours.

Although I did run my second half marathon in March 2014, unfortunately, I did not complete it in under two hours due to a knee injury. However, I still managed to complete it in the same time as what I did my first one in which was 2.10. Despite not reaching my initial target, I still felt really good about as I do believe that if I haven't have had my knee injury I would have completed it under the targeted two hours.

I found the training for the second half marathon quite difficult due to the knee injury, so I decided to give myself a break from this but continue with my running and exercise -  I was also due to get married in  2015 so I didn't want to have any injuries from training!! I believe the motivation for getting into my wedding dress was like training for a half marathon, this became my focus and motivation to keep healthy exercise and diet and I think this has definitely had an impact on my performance throughout the year.

Also during this time I conquered Scafell Pike which, for me, was a massive achievement that I never ever dreamed I would ever do and was part of Sellick Partnership 2013 annual teambuilding!

A healthy body creates a healthy mind and I firmly believe there's nothing quite like a big dose of endorphins to make you feel like you can conquer anything. If you set aside some time to exercise - whether it's a brisk stroll to work in the morning or a weekend Yoga class, the positive effects of exercise will help you to tackle everything else with a clear, focused brain and even more energy to go with it.

For me diet and exercising is very important as your mood and mind can have a big impact on your performance in work. I find having a focus to keep you motivated and exercising is key, although I don't have any plans to run a half marathon but I did climb Snowdon this weekend which, was a another huge achievement that I can now cross off my bucket list.
