ICAEW AwardsThe fourth annual Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW), Manchester Accountancy and Finance Excellence Awards was held at The Lowry Hotel, Manchester on Thursday 09 March and Sellick Partnership were proud to be a headline sponsor of the event.

As the North West accounting and finance industries move from strength-to-strength, the ICAEW’s goal is to recognise the contributions and outstanding achievements of chartered accountants living and working in Greater Manchester.

The compere for the evening was Alexander Armstrong from BBC’S game show Pointless. He did a sterling job of keeping the circa 250 guests in attendance entertained with his class and humour.
The main categories for the awards were as follows;

  • Finance Leader (Business)
  • Finance Team of the Year
  • Rising Star

Each category was highly sought after with some really impressive individuals involved from various backgrounds. The Finance Leader Award, which recognises a chartered accountant who has shown outstanding leadership skills, was awarded to Maria Hallows of Beever and Struthers. Shortlisted finalists were Susan Barber of KPMG and Karl Mannering of Pannone Corporate.

The Rising Star Award, which celebrates the profession’s brightest stars in business or practice, was too close to call so both Harriet Parsons of KPMG and Lauren Roberts from Hurst and Co were winners. Roger Hannah & Co were awarded the accolade for Best Finance Team (In House). Cargo Overseas Ltd were shortlisted.

A big focus and of the night was around Corporate Social Responsibility and examples of all the great work chartered accountants do in and around their communities. The skills gained whilst qualifying as an accountant can really benefit not-for-profit organisations in your community whether that be a local sports club, community centre or charity.

A career as a chartered accountant can be very exciting and equally financially rewarding so it was great to see that so many members donate their time and expertise to their local communities within the North West.

Since our establishment in 2002, Sellick Partnership has actively supported the communities within which our business operates through charitable giving and voluntary work.  Across the UK we work with a number of regional and national charities including St Ann’s Hospice, The Lord’s Taverners, The Maria Hanson Foundation, Douglas Macmillan Hospice, Teenage Cancer Trust and Macmillan Cancer Support.

We also actively support the community through a number of sporting initiatives, including two well established football and cricket leagues and a range of events throughout the UK. These events provide professionals with the chance to network and build relationships between organisations, all whilst enjoying the benefits of exercise!
