National HFMA Conference 2015: ‘Stronger Together’: the Hilton London Metropole, from 9th – 11th December.

It’s that time of year again. Yes Christmas – and also the National HFMA London.

Having supported many regional HFMA events for the last 13 years, we are looking forward to returning to the London conference, showing our long-term commitment to the NHS, on both a national and local level.

For the NHS delegates and ourselves as specialist consultants it is a great opportunity to hear from some of the most prominent figures in the NHS Finance, along with key policy makers, politicians, clinicians and professional and technical experts. Some of the talks I'm looking forward to include Simon Stevens, Chief Executive of NHS England, Jane Cummings NHS Chief Nursing Officer, Sean Fitzpatrick, former captain of the mighty New Zealand Rugby team, the All Blacks, the Heather Rabbatts session titled “Women are born leaders” and John Humphrys, one of Britain’s best known and most controversial broadcasters.

The conference quite clearly allows each delegate to take stock on the calendar year, to take time to analyse change, listen to new ideas and in turn start thinking of plans for the next year. Having worked in partnership with the NHS for over 13 years now we have witnessed and supported the NHS through significant periods of change. I know that our clients equally value the opportunity to discuss future recruitment plans that will inevitably support current and future initiatives.

Many of our clients have a passion for the sector and are rightly very proud to be part of the NHS. The Thursday night black tie dinner and award ceremony allows the delegates celebrate individual and organisational teams successes and contribution to the wider NHS. As with every organisation, individuals work very hard through the year and I think it is essential that that hard work is given recognition to. With the conference being held at the end of the calendar year it is a great opportunity to reflect, reward and renew.

Naturally, attending these events, the focus for us as consultants is on promoting Sellick Partnership and the work that we do. However being part of the HFMA gives us a real insight into the market we work within as well as providing an opportunity to meet those who we speak to on a regular basis. At Sellick Partnership we believe that good trusted relationships are at the heart of our business. People tend to do business with those who they like and trust and meeting face-to-face,  providing us the opportunity to engage with our clients and candidates on a professional and personal level.

If you are planning on attending the conference, our team of specialist NHS consultants will be attending including Nikki Graham, Adam Rouse, Kathryn Beal and myself across the three days. This year we will be attending as delegates, providing us with the opportunity to get a better insight in the conference and hear the impressive line-up that they have on the agenda.

If you are attending this year and do have any recruitment plans that you wish to discuss please do come over and say hello or email your consultant to arrange a coffee (or maybe even a mulled wine) at some point over the three days! We look forward to seeing you all there!
