CIPFA North East Dinner Sellick PartnershipFriday 28th April saw the Annual CIPFA North East Dinner take place in the Locomotion Suite at Newcastle’s Crowne Plaza, a change in venue from our usual quayside meeting place.

Students, members, guests and fellow sponsors Engie and Mazars met for a glamourous champagne reception before being seated and welcomed by Bruce Parvin, executive member and dinner organiser.

Newly elected Regional President Judith Savage took to the stage to address the room and deliver a personal message relating to the success of CIPFA in the North East, its continued dedication to providing professional support and update meetings for students and members, partnerships with associated accountancy bodies before highlighting her love and passion for the region.

Rounding off the speeches was CIPFA’s National President Brian Roberts who spoke of his faith and confidence in CIPFA accountants and their ability to overcome adversity whilst facing significant budgetary challenges, as well as their outstanding commitment to public services.

A fantastic £520 was raised following a charity raffle drawn by our very own Kathryn Heeler which is to be divided between St Cuthbert’s Hospice in Durham and Save the Children.

True to form there was much tension and debate in the room as attendees attempted to correctly answer questions from George Clark’s infamous North East themed quiz with Sellick Partnership and guests narrowly missing out to Mazars on second place following a gripping tie break question!

The evening concluded in the Crowne Plaza’s Gin Bar which provided plenty of opportunity to catch up with other friends and colleagues and enjoy some networking and entertainment.

Networking events such as the Annual CIPFA Dinner and Conference are one of my favourite things about working for Sellick Partnership. Having the opportunity to get out and meet your candidates and clients in a relaxed setting is an excellent way to build and maintain successful relationships.

As dedicated recruitment specialists we believe accelerating and sustaining relationships is the springboard for success and collaborating with various accountancy bodies throughout the UK provides the perfect opportunity to do this.

We would like to give special thanks to our guests from Gateshead Council, Redcar and Cleveland Council, Centre For Life and St Hilda's Catholic Multi Academy Trust. We hope that everyone enjoyed the evening and our company as much as we did theirs and are extremely looking forward to being part of the next CIPFA North East event.
