Role: Assistant Finance Manager

Location: Remote working

Type: 13 month initial contract

Salary: £150-180 day rate

Assistant Finance Manager required to join a fast paced organisation based in East Midlands.

As an Assistant Finance Manager you will:

  • Support the development of financial reporting which will include the analysis and interpretation of complex financial information
  • Organise and attend meetings with managers and budget holders to review and monitor performance
  • Facilitate the delivery of financial support and training to Clinical Support staff to enable them to understand and effectively manage their budgets and monitor performance on an ongoing basis
  • Attend staff briefings and a range of other operational, financial and governance meetings to support the Divisional and Deputy Divisional Finance Managers
  • Respond to FOI requests in line with statutory timeframes
  • Work alongside the services and the Deputy Divisional Finance Manager to support the completion of annual benchmarking returns
  • Prepare and input budgets and journals, including appropriate recharges
  • Assist management with variance analysis, forecasting and reconciliation of control accounts
  • Prepare accurate and timely monthly and annual management and financial accounts
  • Provide input as required to the Trust's statutory financial reports
  • Proactively respond to complex and sensitive financial queries
  • Assist with the development of the General Ledger and supporting the resolution of operational problems/issues
  • Producing financial forecasts for review
  • Reconciling budgets, including the maintenance of the current and recurrent budget position
  • Undertake budget virements and adjustments, in agreement with managers, to reflect

Required skills and experience of the Assistant Finance Manager:

  • AAT qualified or equivalent experience
  • NHS experience
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Demonstrates initiative, whilst working as part of a team
  • Excellent customer service
  • Good digital and ICT skills including use of the internet, Outlook & Office.

Required skills and experience of the Finance Officer:

  • Previous experience of purchase ledger functions
  • Experience of processing high volumes of data including automated processing
  • A good standard of numeracy and literacy
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Demonstrates initiative, whilst working as part of a team
  • Excellent customer service
  • Good digital and ICT skills including use of the internet, Outlook & Office.
