Buyer

A successful and reputable Local Authority are seeking a Buyer to join and support the Procurement & Purchasing team within Highways Maintenance. This role has become available due to an increased workload, and will last for 2/3 months with possible extension.

Daily duties as a Buyer:

  • Hire, lease or purchase items of plant/materials required for the delivery of capital and revenue programmes of highways work
  • Carrying out all purchasing for Highways delivery, ensuring compliance with Public Sector and EU regulations
  • Process Procurement opportunities via the e-procurement system
  • Assist with contract and supplier management
  • Assist with monitoring and analysis of supplier performance
  • Provide support to operational teams by receiving and processing requisitions for goods and services
  • Arrange plant and material deliveries and/or collections
  • Liaise with internal stores operations to ensure efficient and effective collection of stock lines

The successful candidate Buyer will:

  • Come from a highways maintenance/construction/purchasing background
  • Have knowledge and thorough understanding of working to regulations and legislation's
  • Have experience of working with financial systems
  • Have exposure and experience to the above duties
