Our client, a Local Authority in West Yorkshire is seeking a Childcare Lawyer to join their friendly and supportive team on a permanent, part-time basis as part of a job share.

This role would suit a qualified solicitor, barrister, legal executive or equivalent, with experience of working within childcare law. Prior experience gained within Local Government would be desirable although not essential.

The successful candidate will be responsible for a varied workload, which will include;

  • Advising and representing the Authority in relation to child care and safeguarding matters including conducting proceedings through the Family Court
  • Advising clients on matters including Child Protection, Care Proceedings, Special Guardianship, Private Law Proceedings, Fostering Legislation and Adoption Law
  • Conducting advocacy in the Family Court including at directions and contested hearings
  • Attending meetings as required, including Legal Planning Meetings, Gateway and PLO meetings
