Locum, Full Time
A Childcare solicitor or Legal Executive is required to join a supportive South East local authority. My client is looking for an experienced Childcare solicitor or Legal Executive to join them for a 12 month maternity cover from July 2020.
As a Childcare locum you will carry a full Public Childcare caseload, carrying Care and Pre-proceeding cases.
There are 7 lawyers on the team; each lawyer has dedicated Legal Support Officer support, therefore the successful candidate will share an LSO with two other lawyers. There is also a bundle officer who has responsibility for updating the electronic bundles. The LSO will draft applications; arrange meetings and liaise with third parties to manage hearings; book Counsel; update experts etc.
Cases and other responsibilities will include:
- Substance misuse
- Designated authority
- Attending PLO meetings
- Conducting of advocacy (remotely initially)
Required skills and experience:
- Qualified solicitor with a minimum of 3 years PQE experience
- Public Childcare Law experience- this can be in either a local authority or Private Practice setting
- Experience of conducting your own advocacy
