This is an exciting opportunity to join a supportive and successful in-house Commercial Contracts team. The team provides legal support in contracts and procurement and aims to support the Council with a proactive and solution-focused approach. The role involves providing complex legal and procedural advice to all areas of the council, including Members, Officers, external partners, and other stakeholders, you will advise on Public Contracts Regulations and the councils' Standing Orders.
The work is varied and interesting and you may be asked to support on major projects, alongside managing your own single matters. Work can involve corporate/company work which includes company secretarial duties as well as establishing and structuring corporate entities. The successful candidate will be focused on delivering successful outcomes across a wide range of projects which includes delivery of major transformational development and regeneration projects (including construction), creating trading companies and joint ventures, reviewing commercial contracts and providing extensive procurement advice. The role will also require the ability to work collaboratively and effectively with government departments, national and regional public bodies and the private sector.
You will be a qualified solicitor, barrister or equivalent with demonstrable relevant experience in relation to commercial contracts, procurement, and construction contracts within either a public and or private sector background. Key areas for this role include commercial contracts, procurement, construction contracts, public health contracts, IT contracts, frameworks, and concession contracts.
The successful candidate must be well versed in public procurement and contract law. With an in-depth knowledge of all relevant ancillary documents such as collateral warranties, you will be able to draft and amend documentation.
