£30403 - £33781 per annum (on call rota required with a value percentage of basic pay additional)

Decontamination Technician required to join a NHS organisation based in Lancashire. My client is looking for a reliable, flexible individual who is an experienced Decontamination Technician to join their team on a full-time, permanent basis.

As the Decontamination Technician you will be working with the Estates team supervising a team, developing individuals and assessing and evaluating the quality of work undertaken. You will perform Decontamination Technician duties associated with all service provisions within the team and provide an effective and efficient maintenance repair service alongside other duties as below:

Key responsibilities of the Decontamination Technician:

  • Carrying out testing and maintenance of Autoclaves and Washer Disinfectors/Dryers in full compliance of HTM 01.01 Part C
  • Carrying out testing and maintenance of Endoscopy AER's including water testing to HTM 01-06
  • Completing statutory testing in compliance with relevant insurance requirements
  • Carrying out testing and maintenance of RO Plant & Water Chemistry Testing as per HTM guidance
  • Undertaking planned maintenance and pre-installation inspections, investigating equipment services that may be required and carrying out minor improvement works where required
  • Maintaining hydraulic, pneumatic and vacuum systems
  • Carrying out the preventative maintenance for the control of legionella
  • Reading and understanding engineering and technical drawings and specifications
  • Liaising with contractors, suppliers, professional parties, managers and other services

Required skills and experience of the Decontamination Technician:

  • Experience of working within a Decontamination Technician role within a NHS environment is essential for the role
  • Be conversant with the latest edition of the electrical safety code for Low Voltage systems for competent persons
  • Competency in identifying and prioritising own work load and participating in the operation of the performance management information system
  • Be conversant in policies and procedures such as Health & Safety, COSHH, Fire Safety and Infection Control
  • Possess a recognised Advanced Craft qualification and relevant technical qualification in Decontamination Systems
  • Ability to work on call rota hours to ensure continuity of service
  • Participating in all training as required for the post and by the organisation
  • Committed to increasing customer satisfaction and confidence and for solving customer problems as they arise
  • Possess an ability to understand technical drawings and diagrams and diagnose technical faults as required
  • Demonstrable experience of mentoring junior staff
  • Must have a valid driving licence
