Deputy Head of Legal
Up to £45 per hour
Sellick Partnership has an exciting opportunity for an Interim Deputy Head of Legal with a local authority based in London. You will be joining a local authority that is currently undergoing a restructure so you will be responsible for assisting with the implementation of this.
The successful candidate will be a qualified solicitor that has previous experience of working in a similar role, preferably in a London Borough but this is not a necessity. The right candidate will have strong experience of Corporate Governance as the work will consist of member complaints and investigating councillors.
You will be responsible for overseeing the legal team which comprises of planning, contracts, property, employment and litigation. You may need to manage the teams from time to time and principal lawyers will report to you where you will provide support as needed. Other duties will include RIPA, comments on cabinet, committee reports and attending planning committees.
Candidates that have been in Monitoring Officer roles previously would be highly suited to this role. The Client is looking for someone that has over 3 years recent experience in dealing with governance issues as this is a critical part of the role.
This role is initially for 3 months with the possibility of extension.
