Education Lawyer required to join a local authority based in London on a locum basis.

You will be providing specialist and pro-active legal advice and assistance on all aspects of Education and some Employment matters. This will include:

  • Disability discrimination
  • School exclusions & admission appeals
  • TUPE issues
  • Tribunals
  • Undertaking advocacy and instructing counsel when necessary
  • Giving advice on committee and other similar reports and attending committee

Required skills and experience for the successful candidate:

  • Admitted solicitor, qualified barrister or equivalent
  • Ability to communicate well in writing and orally with good presentation skills
  • Ability to give clear and proactive legal advice to officers and members and to deliver efficient and high quality services to members and service areas
  • Ability to handle complex legal matters within area of responsibility personally
  • Ability to obtain evidence, evaluate evidence, prepare cases and appear as an advocate on behalf of the Council in Courts, Tribunals and Inquiries
