Sellick Partnership are currently working with a well-established law firm based in Greater Manchester, where an opportunity has arisen in their Legal 500 Family Law Department for a Family Solicitor to join their established team.

You will be working directly with experienced and professionally recognised Partners to continue to grow and promote the Firm's offering for their clients.

The department you will be working for undertakes all aspects of family work, including divorce and separation, financial issues, arrangements for children, domestic abuse and protection from harassment, care and local authority cases and help and support with mediation.

They work with each other with the same integrity, inspiring confidence in their clients, professional contacts and colleagues through their collaborative approach, working as a team to progress matters quickly and efficiently.

Who our client is looking for

Their ideal candidate will have 1-5 years PQE and will have worked within a family law team for a minimum of 18 months.

The role would suit a person with a solid background and interest in family law, and able to help with a varied case load covering different types of family law cases, which may include some legally aided cases. The role will involve advocacy at an appropriate level, especially for directions hearings.

You will be working within a team structure, and you will benefit from supervision and support. The company can provide assistance and training to ensure you are working at the right level as part of the team, but you must be capable of working independently.

What our client expect of you

  • The ability to manage your own caseload.
  • Be comfortable maintaining and strengthening existing client and professional relationships and helping build new.
  • Have competent IT skills including the use of a case and document management system and be willing to learn new technology.
  • An excellent communicator, both face to face and over the telephone.
  • Ability to draft and prepare clear and concise documents.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Able to work accurately under pressure
  • Good time and file management skills and be able to prioritise tasks.
  • An interest in advocacy and wiliness to represent clients before the court at directions and other appropriate hearings, and to develop as an advocate generally.
  • An interest in marketing and in developing the Firm's practice including attendance at business development events and working with and supporting the Firm's marketing function.
