Finance Director

Salary: £90,000- £110,000 plus equity options

Location: Manchester



Sellick Partnership has been engaged on an exclusive basis to recruit a Finance Director for a successful and growing PE backed legal firm based in Manchester. The business are looking to grow exponentially over the next 5 years and as a result will require a true number one in finance to influence and deliver strategic growth.


The company has seen significant organic growth over the past few years (including 2020) and will now be looking to advance through multiple acquisitions over this period across all specialist legal verticals. This role is available at an exciting time and the successful candidate will play a major part in the company's current buy and build growth project.


Reporting into the CEO and being part of the senior management team, you will be expected to develop and implement the strategic plan, driving change and innovation across the business. As Finance Director you will have primary responsibility for the planning, implementation, managing and running of all the finance activities of the company, including business planning, budgeting, forecasting and financial modelling. You will be tasked to improve profitability by identifying and tackling inefficiencies and advising on the impact of commercial trends and operational decisions. You will also have a proven track record in investor relations, mergers and acquisitions, leading on due diligence and have a commercial focus within the legal industry.


General responsibilities:-


  • Assist in implementing the company's consolidation strategy
  • Managing the preparation and delivery of budgets, financial forecasts and variance analysis
  • Monitor and direct strategic business plans
  • Lead on due diligence and assist in negotiations with potential vendors
  • Liaise with investors and key stakeholders
  • Develop financial and tax strategies
  • Lead on financial integration of acquired company's
  • Ensure that records are updated and maintained in line with all regulatory and compliance requirements



The successful applicant will be a qualified accountant (ACA or ACCA or CIMA) who has experience within a similar role within a legal or professional service firm.


This is a hands on role and would suit a Divisional Finance Director / Head of Finance from a larger firm looking for their first number one role or an experienced Finance Director looking for a new challenge.


The ideal candidate should be commercially astute, and able to identify key trends, risks and opportunities within the business. It is essential that you have a proven track record of driving improvements, cost savings, Merger and Acquisitions and leading on due diligence, executing and managing a consolidation strategy, financial Modelling experience


The successful candidate will need to demonstrate a good understanding of strategic, commercial and operational activities and have a proven track record of influencing and working with stakeholders to deliver objectives. You will have sound judgment, tact, credibility, diplomacy and the ability to influence without dictating and challenge where necessary at all levels within a commercial business.


You will be highly numerate, and able to work with complex data, from multiple sources, in different formats, to provide concise and meaningful commercial information to aid the decision making.


You will have strong written and verbal communication skills, with continuous improvement in mind, and the ability to motivate oneself, and others, to deliver a high standard of work to agreed timetables, evaluate progress and implement corrective action. You must have strong analytical skills, be organised and able to present conclusions to support decision-making. Managerial experience is important to this role.
