Sellick Partnership has been engaged to recruit a Financial Accountant for an instantly recognisable branded retail business based in Manchester. The business has been consistently growing over the past few years and will continue to outperform their competitors by driving their strategic plans further. The finance team plays a critical role in this transformation which has led to the need for a technically strong individual to enhance their skills.

As a Financial Accountant, you will provide subject matter expertise on accounting standards and how to apply them across the business. You will play a vital role in helping to drive continuous improvement in accounting and financial control and delivering statutory reporting across the business. You will also play a key role in ensuring consistent accounting practices and high standards across the business, producing timely and accurate information and proactively supporting the businesses.

If you can bring the attention to detail and technical skills needed, the organisation can offer you the opportunity to build your career with a business that always puts people at the heart of its strategy.

Duties include:

  • Act as a main contact for financial accounting support
  • Perform monthly Group consolidation of all Group Divisions' actuals
  • Produce a monthly consolidated Exec Pack and assist with any queries from the FP&A team
  • Look after the intercompany reconciliations and intercompany processes
  • Produce and review a variety of high-quality balance sheet control account reconciliations for the corporate centre, ensuring robust control of the corporate balance sheet is maintained
  • Produce statutory accounts for various Group subsidiaries
  • Support the production of the Group's annual accounts at interim and year-end

It is expected that the successful candidate will be dynamic and able to thrive in a fast-paced organisation, where initiative and ability to identify areas of improvement are promoted.

The successful applicant will be a proactive, fully qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA or ICAS) either making their first move from practice (top 10) or have previous experience in financial control or a financial accounting environment with a broad knowledge of accounting standards and statutory accounts.

Experience of producing or auditing statutory accounts under IFRS and FRS 101 and of balance sheet control account reconciliation and cash flow forecast preparation would be desirable.

Due to the nature of this position it is necessary that the successful individual is able to communicate with staff at all levels the ability to present information in a clear simplified way to both finance and non-finance colleagues, whilst maintaining their own work load. Focussed on delivering specific objectives, you will be proactive, adaptable, dynamic and self-motivated with a desire to find and deliver improvements.

If you consider yourself to be a committed, career driven professional who can demonstrate the above experience and who would welcome the stimulus of this commercial finance post then we would be pleased to hear from you.
