Sellick Partnership is working exclusively with a very successful and instantly recognisable wholesale / retail business based in Scunthorpe, to recruit a permanent Financial Accountant.

The business has outperformed their competitors over the past few years and will continue to do so, even in this current climate, by driving their strategic plan, delivering further improvements and changes that will make a real impact on the whole business.

The finance team plays a critical role in this transformation which has led to the need for a technically strong individual to enhance their skills. You will play a vital role in improving and developing financial control and delivering all reporting across the group. You will also play a key role in ensuring consistent accounting practices and high standards across the business, producing timely and accurate information and proactively supporting the businesses.

As part of the finance control team that provides financial oversight, transactional process delivery and financial reporting for the business, you're main area of focus will be key to ensuring the integrity of the balance sheet as well as helping to implement and then maintain the procedures necessary to create a strong control environment. The role requires an Accountant who can ensure the business's performance is reported accurately and on time when financial records are held across multiple systems where only limited integration exists.

The role requires an individual with a financial control background who can ensure control procedures are correctly applied and adhered to by the business. In addition, the role will require the provision of financial analysis and insight to support the Finance Business Partners, stakeholders and wider management team in decision making.

Responsibilities also include the implementation of control improvements, identification and delivery of efficiencies within the finance function and the involvement in budgeting and forecasting.

Every day will offer different challenges; providing technical support to assigned business areas on either project related activity, business as usual or dealing with business critical matters.

The person

The successful applicant will be a qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA or ICAS) either making their first move from practice (top 10) or from a similar role who has a good understanding of controls within a large complex wholesale, retail, multisite, leisure or FMCG business.

Applicants must have the ability to understand financial processes and review relevant controls. They should have strong communication skills, and be able to communicate effectively across a diverse audience. Sarbanes Oxley experience is desirable.

This is a complex business and will need someone who is resilient and comfortable challenging and engaging internal business partners. Therefore, you will have to show experience of building and managing meaningful relationships with lots of different stakeholders at all levels, as you will be challenging the status quo.
