Financial Accountant

Salary: £45,000 - £53,000

Location: hybrid working

Duration: permanent

Sellick Partnership has been assigned to recruit a Financial Accountant for a profitable and fast moving entrepreneurial service business in Greater Manchester. The business has grown substantially year on year through acquisitions and via organic growth and will continue to do so in line with their strategic plan.

We are looking for a driven and enthusiastic fully qualified candidate preferably with a practice background ACA or ACCA (ICAEW or ICAS) ideally with exposure in a similar Financial Accountant role.

Reporting to the Head of Finance you will be responsible for the financial and management accounting, cash and working capital management, development of insightful management reporting and performance analysis, supporting on the financial integration of acquisitions, budget setting and ad hoc support for the business.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Management of small team, focusing on development of the team and processes
  • Month end close and timetable ownership through to issuing internal and external reporting packs
  • Working capital and cash flow management and reporting, focused on maximisation of Group cash balances and optimisation of profit to cash conversion
  • Management of acquisition integrations from a reporting, systems and processes perspective
  • Development of additional value adding reporting including gross margin, overheads and headcount
  • Systems development and process automation - continuous improvement ethos
  • Tax compliance activity - VAT, PAYE, Corporation Tax and R&D claims
  • Ad hoc project work, with focus on process efficiency

The successful candidate will be ACA or ACCA qualified making their first move out of practice (CIMA considered with relevant experience) or a second mover ideally with industry experience in a similar role. You will have a positive, enthusiastic and hands-on approach backed with drive and ambition. You will need to be confident working with a diverse range of people and cultures and have excellent communication skills.

You will have a proven deadline driven track record with robust technical accounting ability, including up to date Financial and Statutory reporting knowledge. Experience of managing a small team in a fast moving entrepreneurial environment is preferable.
