Sellick Partnership are seeking a Governance Manager to join a Local Authority based in the Midlands.

The successful candidate will take on a varied workload, and will be required to:

  • Manage the Governance Officers
  • Develop, maintain and improve the Council's governance processes
  • Interpret complex legislation, statutory guidance and the Constitution
  • Complete Community Governance reviews
  • Draft responses to proposals and terms of reference
  • Act as the statutory Scrutiny Officer and advise and lead Scrutiny Panels
  • Receive and deal with petitions

The ideal candidate for this unique position will be a proactive and tenacious individual. They will have previous management experience and have excellent knowledge of Democratic and Members' Services in the public sector.

The Governance Manager will be available to start immediately for an initial period of 3 months, however, it is likely that the role will continue beyond that. There is some scope for flexible hours and home working.
