Interim Head of Finance is required for a duration of 6 months to work for an established public sector client, based within Greater Manchester. The role purpose is to centrally manage both the financial and management accounting functions, ensuring the organisation delivers its role in a manner that ensures regularity, propriety, value for money and feasibility. You will also be required to manage the central procurement function to utilise and promote our in-house expertise to deliver an effective and compliant procurement service.

Head of Finance responsibilities include:

  • Production of the Annual Report and Accounts
  • Budget planning for the organisation
  • Monitoring and financial performance against agreed budgets and activities
  • Working with budget managers to consider the financial implications of business case options
  • Responsible for the finance policies and processes, ensuring they are reviewed and updated on a regular basis
  • Production of monthly financial and management accounts
  • Ownership of the purchase to pay process
  • Responsible for the procurement policy and process, ensuring it is reviewed and updated on a regular basis

Core skills for the Head of Finance role:

  • Analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong IT skills

Prior knowledge and experience required for the Head of Finance role:

  • CCAB qualified or equivalent
  • Experience in managing both financial accounting and management accounting functions
  • Experience of building and managing relationships both internally and externally
  • Ability to interpret accounting standards effectively
