Salary: £75,000 - £85,000

Location: Greater Manchester

Duration: Permanent

Working on an exclusive basis, Sellick Partnership has been engaged to recruit a Head of Finance for a reputable business based in South Manchester.

We are looking to recruit a high calibre and ambitious commercial individual as a result of sustained growth. This is a highly entrepreneurial business where you will be constantly challenged in an ever changing environment.

As part of the management team and working alongside the Managing Director, Partners and Directors this is a very broad and all-encompassing role that has responsibility over the Finance for four trading companies of the organisation.

This role is wide ranging and crucial to the continued development of the firm as they continue to grow quickly and profitably.

You will have the responsibility for all aspects of financial and management accounting including the improvement of processes and providing commercial business information to the business.

You will support the annual budgeting and forecasting, monitor business performance against budget, prepare analysis and recommend corrective action where necessary to ensure performance remains on target.

Managing a small team who oversee the daily bank balances, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable and credit control for the practice.

Co-ordinate with external stakeholders e.g. Banks and external Auditors on various issues and effectively manage the local audit process

The person

The successful applicant will be a qualified Accountant (ACA or ACCA or CIMA) who has experience within a similar role in the solicitor / legal sector and exposure with working knowledge of the SRA Accounts rules.

This is a hands on role and therefore excellent up to date technical accounting knowledge is essential. In addition, you will need to demonstrate a good understanding of strategic, commercial and operational activities and have a proven track record of influencing and working with stakeholders to deliver objectives.

The ideal candidate should be commercially astute, and able to identify key trends, risks and opportunities within the business. You will have sound judgment, tact, credibility, diplomacy and the ability to influence without dictating and challenge where necessary at all levels within a commercial business.

You will be highly numerate, and able to work with complex data, from multiple sources, in different formats, to provide concise and meaningful commercial information to aid the decision making.

You will have strong written and verbal communication skills, with continuous improvement in mind, and the ability to motivate oneself, and others, to deliver a high standard of work to agreed timetables, evaluate progress and implement corrective action. You must have strong analytical skills, be organised and able to present conclusions to support decision-making. Managerial experience is important to this role.
