Head of Corporate Governance is required to join a large public sector organisation on a permanent basis.
Our client is a large public sector organisation that is one of the leading legal providers for local authorities and public sector bodies within the region. Our client has a strong client base and work is continually being brought to them which is why this role has been formed to assist with client demand.
In this Head of Service - Corporate Governance role, you will be formulating a team within the organisation of around 3-4 lawyers who will specialise in governance matters. You will be the Monitoring officer for one of the authorities which is part of the social enterprise firm and will appoint a Deputy Monitoring officer to work alongside you.
This team currently undertakes work on behalf of three key local authority clients but also receives an influx of work from County Councils, District and Borough councils along with parish councils. They also undertake work for the fire service too. Such matters include members investigations, constitutional reviews and support on this along with general governance and dispute matters. They are also providing advice in relation to local authorities moving to trusts which is a growing area.
Evening meetings will be required but a level of flexibility and working from home is welcomed in this role. Candidates must be able to be based in the Bedfordshire office for 2-3 days a week and be able to drive due to the location of the office.
This would be really suited to someone who has previously worked in local government and has at least 3-4 years PQE. Our client is happy to consider someone is ambitious and has a real drive for training and developing a team.
