An exceptional opportunity has arisen for an ambitious individual to lead the Head of Information Governance at a growing local authority based in the South East.

The role is a brilliant opportunity for an individual to lead a large project involving the management of FOI, data protection and local authority's archives teams. The role involves a strategic element as well as the management and leadership skills necessary to drive the information governance team into the next stages of their development.

The information governance role is offered on a remote basis with the occasional need to come into the office once or twice per week but with flexible working the key focus of the authority. The role is offered on a 3 Month + basis with the view to extension.

The successful candidate will not necessarily be a qualified lawyer but will be well versed in managing, strategising, restructuring and promoting best practice. They will be well-organised, have experience of working with large scale project management and be able to quickly grasp and implement state of the art CRM software.

The duties of the Head of Information Governance include, but are not limited to:

  • Dealing with compliance over a large organisation
  • Presenting to the board
  • Managing a team
  • Promoting new information governance practices & legislations within the organisation and to external clients
  • Restructuring the information governance team
  • Creating a new and modern approach to handling information governance matters
  • Utilising the CRM system and promoting it across the organisation

It is paramount that the successful applicant has obtained a level of information governance qualifications to sit well in this position. Local Authority or public sector experience is preferred but not compulsory in applying for this role and previous experience in dealing with compliance over a large organisation would look excellent on your application.
