Contract - Full-time
£25-34 p/h

About the Role:

An exciting opportunity for an Advisory Lawyer to join the Housing and Land Team in the Government Legal Department in London for a minimum of 5 months. The successful Lawyer will be fully qualified (Solicitor, Barrister or equivalent) and will preferably have a strong background in Housing Law. The successful candidate will be advising policy clients on statutory and common law framework for range of housing related issues. They will be joining a highly collaborative and supportive team of lawyers to deliver the departments key strategic objectives relating to the condition of housing and housing regulation.

Key Requirements

The ideal candidate for this Advisory Lawyer role will have:

  • Fully qualified Lawyer (Solicitor, Barrister or equivalent)
  • Strong background in Housing Law
  • Experience with Advisory work
  • Experience in at least some the following areas:
    • Private rented sector housing - regulation of private sector landlords
    • Long leasehold - knowledge of how long leasehold regime operates
    • Social Housing
    • Housing supply
    • Homelessness
    • Judicial Review

Key responsibilities
The successful candidate for this Advisory Lawyer role will be required to:

  • To advise the policy client on a wide range of housing and housing supply areas
  • Deliver key strategic objectives relating to housing regulation
  • Deliver key strategic objectives relating reducing homelessness and rough sleeping

  • £25-34 per hour
