Sellick Partnership are currently assisting in the recruitment of a Senior Reward Business Partner, to join a large housing organisation based in the Teesside area.

Our client is looking for a reward and benefits specialist to manage the current portfolio of benefits - and take the business to the next level.

This is a busy but varied role; you'll need to manage the evaluation and benchmarking of our salaries in order to maintain the pay model. Your knowledge of DB and DC pension schemes will be critical in providing support as the business implements a major pension review project this year. They have recently added to their benefits portfolio with a new salary sacrifice car lease scheme , but they'll be looking to you to keep them current and advise what else we can do to offer colleagues great rewards and benefits.

You'll be working as part of the People team - they're a great bunch - but your reach and influence within the business will be much farther, providing advice and support to managers, directors, the executive team, as well as our remuneration committee and board members.

The role is predominantly home-based so a lot of work is done via Teams, but our client does like to get together for 1:1's, team meetings and whenever it makes more sense for the business to work collaboratively.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive the development and effective implementation of the pay, reward, recognition and pensions framework through analysis and insight of key HR and benchmarking data and information
  • Manage and develop the pay and grading structure; including any job evaluation, base pay model, bonus/performance schemes or other such processes
  • Manage and develop the benefits portfolio and salary sacrifice arrangements, portals and associated budgets. This will include working with third party suppliers to ensure the best deal. Develop appropriate internal marketing campaigns to ensure maximum uptake
  • Manage the pensions' portfolio to maximise tax / cost efficiencies and avoid crystallisation of debt. Develop appropriate campaigns for maximum take up
  • Build analytical models and provide insight using HR and market data and benchmarking to forecast costs, identify issues and impacts
  • Provision of support and advise to the Boards and Committees, including the drafting of reports and proposals and attendance at meetings as required
  • Conduct analysis and external benchmarking to build knowledge and underpin an effective, fair and competitive strategy. This will include undertaking equality audits and complying with any statutory requirements in this regard, including gender reporting
  • Provide data and undertake modelling to support annual negotiations with Trade Unions; and implement annual pay and other reward programmes
  • Project manage, or act as internal advisor, on projects/initiatives linked to pay, reward, pensions etc. This will include the development of business cases, costs options appraisals and benefits tracking
  • Develop and implement relevant policies and processes linked to pay and reward; keeping abreast of relevant legislative changes
  • Maintain pay and benefits data on the intranet, career pages on the company's website and other social media platforms
  • Provide advice and guidance to the HR Business Partnering team (and others as appropriate) on reward policies and practices, to ensure compliance with the company's approach
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, particularly with the HR Transactional Team to ensure the effective delivery of reward and benefits acting as an escalation point for the resolution of complex queries; and with Payroll Services to ensure the effective implementation of schemes / benefits

Essential Experience:

  • CIPD qualified or able to demonstrate equivalent standard
  • Demonstrable experience of pay, reward and recognition and pension practice in both Defined Contribution and Defined Benefit pension provisions. As well as a sound understanding of the legislation linked to these areas
  • A working knowledge of the Inbucon job evaluation scheme would be advantageous, although not essential, however general job evaluation experience is essential.
  • Advanced IT skills, particularly in Excel, databases and HR Software
  • Interpersonal skills of listening, relationship management and influencing at a senior level
  • Good understanding and ability to analyse HR data & compliance requirements / privacy
  • Able to prioritise to achieve realistic targets, costs and time deadlines

This role has been categorised as home-based, meaning that you will work from home for the majority of the working week because you can fully deliver services in that way. Although you'll be a home-based colleague, you might sometimes need to be physically present at another location or be expected to travel to the office in Middlesbrough for collaborative work.
