In-House Solicitor

Permanent

Up to £50,0000 per annum

Higher Education

An interesting opportunity has arisen with for an In-house lawyer to join a higher education organisation based in the South East.

The role will be to establish a legal function internally within the organisation and provide internal legal support. This is a unique position for someone to influence and develop the service function.

The successful candidate will provide legal advice across the organisation to its staff and will support commercial activities in relation to the following;

Drafting and negotiating a wide range of agreements and contracts in the main which will vary on complexity

  • Advice and drafting of commercial leases
  • Intellectual property and dispute resolution such as claims to include employment law
  • Data protection, compliance and governance

Once the function and workflow has been established then there is an opportunity to further recruit in the team should there be a business case to do so. This role would be great for someone who has experience of undertaking an in-house position or a sole legal advisor role in-house for a similar organisation or a commercial business. Candidates must have strong commercial experience and experience of undertaking other areas of law as well due to a range of legal matters which will be brought to this role.

Given this role is newly created, it may be that in the first instance you would not be dealing with the array of matters mentioned and some of this would be outsourced to external partners. The commercial work is the main bulk of this and a willingness to pick up other areas and develop your expertise is encouraged.

This role does require candidates who are qualified either a Solicitor, Barrister, Legal Executive or equivalent.
