Information Governance Associate - Equality and Human Rights Commission
£33,000 + benefits per annum
5 month Fixed Term Contract
An experienced information governance professional is required to work in London based non-departmental public body on a 5 month Fixed term contract. The role will involve:
Working in the Commission's Legal Directorate, you will be part of the team engaged in ensuring the Commission meets its statutory requirements under the Data Protection Act, General Data Protection Regulation, Freedom of Information Act and Environmental Information Regulations. This is a specialist role working alongside the Data Protection Officer, Corporate Lawyer and other Information Governance specialists.
The role holder will work with the Data Protection Officer to ensure that the Commission meets its obligations under data protection legislation. This will include providing advice, training and guidance, undertaking risk assessments, responding to incidents and monitoring and improving compliance.
The role holder will work with the Corporate Lawyer to handle and respond to requests for information under the Freedom of Information Act and the Environmental Information Regulations. In addition, the role holder will also ensure complaints about the Commission are dealt with effectively and in line with procedures and guidance.
Key Responsibilities of Information Governance Associate
- Managing a caseload and competing priorities
- Ensuring that legislation is accurately applied
- Providing pragmatic and risk based advice
- Taking steps to resolve data protection issues and reduce risks
Required skills and experience of the Information Governance Associate
- Substantial knowledge and some experience of the statutory and procedural workings of the Freedom of Information Act.
- The ability to apply sections of legislation or guidance to real world scenarios.
- A strong understanding of data protection legislation and at least some experience in data protection.
BCS/ISEB/IAPP qualifications or equivalent are an advantage.
