Interim Project Accountant

Sellick Partnership has been engaged to recruit a Qualified Interim Project Accountant to assist an MD in an exciting growth phase of this niche engineering business based in West Lancashire. The company enters an exciting R&D phase and will need an individual who has experience of providing all-round accounting support and commercial input into various ad-hoc Projects, whether they be existing or at an early stage.

The Project Accountant will demonstrate their business feasibility, planning, costing and analysis skills together with the ability to partner various key stakeholders across the business. The role is to assist within a 'Project start-up' situation of a particular division and is expected to last between three to six months. A background in Finance is essential also in order to interpret and communicate budgetary and planning / costed MI. A background within a SME Engineering environment would be desirable with an ability to demonstrate strong commercial partnering skills essential to succeed in this role.

The role

The key accountabilities will include:

* Delivery of financial planning process including strategic planning, forecasting, and performance reporting v budget
* Financial and MI reporting, commercial support to aid decision making
* Stakeholder management with subsequent influencing skills relating to strategy, new product lines and new project initiatives
* Supporting MD with subsequent finding , analysis and performance reporting
* Full commercial and financial analysis with subsequent recommendations
* Other Ad-hoc project work to support decision making and reporting to the board
* Financial modelling, excellent Excel skills

The person

The successful applicant will have a strong partnering and soft skills in order to analyse and cost potential projects after the initial R&D phase. You will have previous experience of speaking to non-finance senior stakeholders and be prepared to challenge and question from a financial/budgetary perspective. You will be expected to provide robust plans and be a hands-on Accountant, in order to potentially re-cost, analyse and account for both existing and new projects. The overall aim will be to drive a more robust and informed commercial decisions which will determine the future direction of the business.
