Legal Governance Officer
Sellick Partnership has been instructed by a Combined authority based in the East of England to assist with the recruitment of a permanent Governance officer to join their expanding legal services on a permanent basis.
The successful Governance officer will have a minimum of an A level qualification and ideally have exposure to working within a legal environment and ideally within a public sector setting. This is an exciting opportunity for someone to work alongside the Principal Lawyer and Deputy Monitoring Officer and the Head of Legal Services assisting with a range of Governance related matters.
As the authority currently works alongside 8 other local authorities within the region, you will be working in a fast paced environment but will have the opportunity to gain invaluable experience and will be supported and trained along the way. Duties will include;
- Carrying a caseload with supervision and support
- Providing legal advice to officers and members within the Authority, and its companies.
- Drafting and negotiating documents
- Providing support to the Chief Legal Officer/MO, and Lawyers as required
- Work on high-profile and complex matters with support and supervision
- Experience of all software associated with Microsoft Office.
- An understanding and appreciation of the roles of Members and the Officer/Member working relationship
The authority is currently working on a remote working basis at the moment and there will be limited office presence required post covid. Our client is looking for somoene with real enthusiasm and drive to learn which will ultimately open doors to expand your knowledge in other areas of law due to the team further expansion plans.
