An opportunity has arisen for a Legal Services Manager to join a small and friendly team.

The role of the Legal Services Manager is to manage a team of 8, with two legal assistants and six solicitors in the legal department and you will report in to the Head of Regulatory Services.

The solicitors on the team cover Planning, Property, Litigation and Licensing. Half of your time will be spent managing the team and the other half will be spent executing your own legal work with specific reference to complex planning/ property matters.

The local authority have some incredible projects occurring, with a huge development venture taking place, where they are delivering a vast amount of new homes, schools and leisure centres, as well as a link road. This in addition to the large number of homes the council buy every year for development purposes.

As a result, this is a really exciting and challenging time to join this Council where your work will be contributing towards the growth of the community.

The ideal candidate will have considerable experience in either Commercial Property or Planning within a local authority setting and also have substantial experience of directly managing a team.

Required skills and experience of the Legal Services Manager:

  • You must be qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Legal Executive
  • Experience of directly managing a team
  • Experience of working within a local authority
  • Experience in Commercial Property or Planning
