Legal Services Manager and Deputy Monitoring Officer

Duration: 3-6 months +

An experienced Legal Services Manager is required to join a busy and dynamic Local Authority in the South East of England on a locum basis for an initial period of 3 months with the scope to be extended.

The role

  • Managing a team of experienced lawyers and legal officers within the disciplines of property, contracts, planning, licensing and litigation.
  • Conducting regular one to one meetings and annual performance appraisals.
  • Overseeing a number of major projects and Council initiatives.
  • Attending Council and Cabinet meetings.
  • Supporting the Head of Legal Services.
  • Providing advice on corporate governance matters.
  • Acting as Deputy Monitoring Officer.

The client is looking for an experienced Lawyer with recent experience of managing a team alongside experience of corporate governance. Experience in planning, regeneration and/or litigation would be beneficial.

This is a full time role with a high degree of flexibility to work remotely. Attendance in the office one or two days per week may be required.
