Management Accountant

Management Accountant

Management Accountant required to work for a well-established not for profit client, based close to Bradford. The main purpose of this post is to provide accurate, understandable and timely financial information to enable budget holders at all levels to manage their budgets efficiently and effectively. This will include:

  • Collation and analysis of expenditure including the development of expenditure profiles to deliver regular expenditure monitoring reports
  • Identification of budget variances including the provision of advice on how to address the variances
  • Providing support, training and advise to cost centre managers Providing assistance to senior management in the preparation of the revenue budget and the closure of accounts
  • To provide efficient, effective and systematic budget/financial reporting systems which will be used by directors, senior managers and operational staff to control the development budgets and develop plans to maximise use of financial resources
  • To provide regular reports on the financial position of the cost centres across the organisation and to propose corrective action options when necessary
  • To interpret budget trends over appropriate time cycles to feed results into the planning and budgetary process and explain the results to senior management
  • To assist in the preparation of budget monitoring systems for specific fund raising regimes such as joint finance partnerships, local area agreements and secondments

Required skills and experience of the Management Accountant:

  • Extensive knowledge of financial procedures and systems relevant to a public sector organisation
  • Experience of managing and motivating staff
  • Preparation of financial reports for budget holders including senior management and directors
  • Direct experience of monitoring budgets
  • Development and improvement of financial monitoring systems
