Sellick Partnership are currently recruiting a Payroll Officer to join an ambitious, dynamic organisation in the Macclesfield area. The organisation that we're representing has recently undergone a period of restructure and is looking to bring in an established Payroll Officer to oversee the payroll function within their fast-paced accounts department. With years of experience in their field, our client is a market leader in the consultation industry, and are looking to bring in a skilled Payroll Officer on a permanent basis. This central role will join a welcoming team and report openly into the directors of the organisation, with autonomy over the entire payroll function.

This permanent Payroll Officer position will be responsible for the processing of a number of monthly and weekly payrolls.

Specific duties of the Payroll Officer include:

  • Liaising with clients via phone or email to obtain timesheets for processing
  • Processing 35 weekly and 80 monthly payrolls using Sage
  • Processing all statutory, SSP, SMP and SPP payments
  • Dealing with all ad hoc queries relating to clients and HMRC
  • Submission of CIS returns, and making submissions through RTI
  • Preparation and submission of pension files and handling pension related queries
  • Completing month-end processing and reporting and auditing as required
  • Dealing with attachment and deductions of earnings, holiday pay and tax codes

The Ideal Payroll Officer:

The successful Payroll Officer will be an established payroll professional with experience of working to tight deadlines within a pressurised environment. The ideal candidate will have good understanding of HMRC practices and the ability to work autonomously and manage their own workload. They will be an excellent communicator and have strong attention to detail. The ideal candidate must be have previous exposure to Sage Payroll software and be proficient in both Microsoft Word and Excel.
