Sellick Partnership are currently working closely with the London Borough of Barking & Dagenham to recruit a permanent Safeguarding Lawyer to join their team.

Over the past four years, the London Borough of Barking & Dagenham have gone through an ambitious Transformation Programme and have built a new kind of council, capable of delivering real change for the community in the twenty-first century. Although a lot of improvements have been made, resulting in the council winning the LGC Driving Growth award as well as LGC Entrepreneurial Council of the Year 2019, there is still more to deliver. Over the coming years the council will consolidate the progress they have already made and use the new kind of council to empower residents to live longer, healthier, happier and more independent lives.

The council are looking for enthusiastic Safeguarding Lawyers to handle a mixed caseload of childcare matters. Including holding a caseload of pre-proceedings and care cases, emergency protection orders, exclusion orders, etc.

The Safeguarding Lawyer should be qualified, CILEx, solicitor, etc. and should have experienced in public childcare law, either from within a local authority or private practice.

The salary range for this role is £36,711-£45,585, plus benefits:

The role will be conducted remotely for the foreseeable future and there will be ample home-working provided once offices reopen, allowing for candidates to be considered who do not necessarily reside locally. The council have attractive and spacious offices based in the Town Hall, which is a short 5-minute walk from Barking Station.
