Planning Litigation Lawyer

12 month contract

£26 - £35ph

London - Remote Working

An exciting opportunity has arisen for qualified lawyers, ideally with experience of planning litigation, to join a busy litigation team within Central Government in London although the role is presently primarily home-working. This role is on a 12 month basis with potential for extension.

Main Responsibilities of the Planning Litigation Lawyer:

  • Conduct of a complex public law litigation caseload.
  • Complying with tight Court and client deadlines.
  • Attending Court hearings with Counsel including on occasion in the Regional Courts.
  • Drafting detailed advice on legal merits, risks and litigation strategy.
  • Drafting detailed instructions to Counsel.
  • Assisting colleagues with their caseloads when necessary.
  • Assisting with the team's knowledge management/sharing objectives and providing input into client legal awareness projects.
  • Attending and contributing to team meetings.

Key Requirements of the Planning Litigation Lawyer:

  • Qualified Solicitor/ Barrister or Equivalent with a minimum 3 years PQE
  • Ideally previous experience dealing with public law/ planning litigation.
  • Previous experience within the public sector or government department and insight into the interrelationship between law and politics are desirable, but not essential.
    Able to work to tight deadlines and to prioritise own work.
  • Able to manage a busy and complex caseload.
  • Build and maintain good working relationships.
