Principal Commercial Contracts Lawyer

  • £50,000-£54,000 Per Annum
  • Hours: 37 per week, however there may be some flexibility with this

A highly reputable local authority based in the Home Counties are seeking a Principal Commercial Lawyer to join their team on a permanent basis. The client is ideally looking for someone on a full time basis, but is happy to consider candidates who are seeking less hours. The council are offering remote working, however going into the office is welcome.

The council offers an ideal opportunity for highly motivated, enthusiastic and organised Lawyers to join a large and thriving public sector legal team.

This is a key legal role in Legal Services and we are looking for an individual who will assist the Head of Commercial, Education & Health Law by contributing to the overall management of the delivery of high quality, cost effective legal services to the County Council, its members and officers. Providing expert & commercially minded legal advice on procurement and commercial matters including innovative methods of service delivery and for ensuring the drafting and negotiation of effective documentation that achieves clients' objectives.

You would be responsible for managing 5 lawyers in the Commercial Law Group ensuring that effective processes are in place for recruiting, developing, appraising, supporting, rewarding and retaining employees, promoting attendance and performance in line with Council policy. You will also be responsible for the financial position of the Commercial Law Group, including monthly budget monitoring and income forecasting.

The Commercial Law Team is a fundamental part of the development of the county council and provides the opportunity to be involved in a broad portfolio of legal work concerned with major projects, complex procurements, establishing and servicing companies and the wider commercialisation of the county council.
