Are you an experienced Contracts Lawyer looking to take the next step in your career?
Sellick Partnership are exclusively assisting the London Borough of Redbridge in their search for a Principal Lawyer for Contracts and Employment.
The Principal Lawyer (Contracts & Employment) will:
- Manage the Contracts and Employment Teams
- Be the Council's principal source of expertise in respect of public procurement and contracts
- Have conduct of the Council's most complex legal matters
- Prepare reports for and attend the Council's cabinet and committees
- Hold budgetary responsibility for the Contracts and Employment Teams
In terms of experience, prior managerial responsibility is essential, but local authority experience is not obligatory. Given the nature of the casework the Principal Lawyer will carry, a firm knowledge of commercial contracts and procurement are required.
The Principal Lawyer will be a qualified solicitor or equivalent.
While the Principal Lawyer will be managing the Contracts and Employment Teams, prior experience of employment law is not required.

While Redbridge Council are working entirely remotely for now, it is possible that office presence will be required, as such the Principal Lawyer (Contracts & Employment) should live within a commutable distance of Ilford, or be willing to travel in when required.
