Principal Litigation Lawyer

Local Authority

£45-60 per hour

6 months +

Principal Litigation Lawyer is required to join a local authority based in Buckinghamshire for an initial 6 month contract with the view for extension thereafter.

Our client is seeking an experienced criminal litigator to come on board from the beginning of January. You will be responsible for managing a small team of three with varying levels of experience whilst picking up a criminal litigation caseload.

The caseload will consist of a range of matters which can include trading standards, health and safety, environmental crime, housing fraud and food safety to name a few. You will be required to undertake advocacy in the Magistrates Court which is located very close to the offices. Advocacy tends to be once a week but this can fluctuate depending on emergency cases such as travellers. All crown court matters go to external counsel.

Our client is looking for an enthusiastic individual who can adapt to a warm and friendly team environment. You will be able to undertake a caseload of both routine and complex prosecutions matters but also offer support to the more junior members of the team with training and one-to-one's to assist them with their development.

On offer is an extremely competitive rate of £45 to £60 per hour. Furthermore, this local authority offers an agile working policy and two days home working which makes this really attractive. Our client holds an excellent reputation in the market and a highly sought after place to work.

Our client is happy to consider candidates who have strong prosecutions experience in a public sector environment with previous management experience or those who have significant public sector experience who are looking to take the next step up in their career. Candidates must be able to use a case management experience; those able to use IKEN is a bonus.

This local authority is easily accessible by public transport from the Midlands, London and Home Counties due to being on a well-connected train line and is located near local amenities and shopping.

We encourage interested applicants to apply immediately to be considered for short listing. Alternatively should you require further information or wish to discuss your suitability before applying please contact Chelsey Newsom in our Manchester office for a confidential discussion.
