We are currently recruiting for a Principal Projects Lawyer to join a forward thinking local authority based in West London on a contractual basis.
Working under the leadership of the Director of Legal and Democratic Services, you will deliver expert and strategic legal services and advice to the council including work on service delivery vehicles, corporate governance law and major contracts disputes. Other duties will involve:
- Developing new legal policies and procedures in line with government, legal bodies, and authority initiatives and objectives
- Dealing personally with complex or politically sensitive matters
- Signing off Cabinet reports and attending meetings of cabinet, committees & sub-committees, panels and officer level meetings to advise on legal and procedural issues
- Conducting proceedings, including representation where appropriate, on behalf of the Council before Court, Tribunals, Inquiries and other judicial or quasi-judicial bodies including parliamentary proceedings
The ideal candidate will have expert knowledge and understanding of the law and procedure relating to the functions of a local authority, including council-owned companies and other service delivery vehicles, and contractual disputes.
