An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Principal Strategic Social Services Locum to join a large South East Local Authority for an initial 3-6 months in the next 2-4 weeks. As Principal Strategic Social Services Locum you will oversee the work of adults and children's social care.
The local authority has a large Childcare team of around 35 staff and 3 in the Adults team. There a 3 Team Leaders within the Child Protection team and so it will not require you to have direct responsibility of casework in this area but to provide support to the Team Leaders.
You will have more input within the Adults Services, you will cover some of the more high profile casework, generally dealing with high level claims, some aspects of commissioning and procurement support and advice to the Director of Adult Services and relevant elected members.
As Principal Strategic Social Services Locum you will also be expected to contribute to the management of the service: budget controls, staffing issues and workforce planning and management -liaison with finance, HR and service leads generally.
Required skills and experience:
- Experience working at a strategic level within a local authority
- A qualified solicitor or barrister
